Works fine for me on iOS.
AHHH i cant think of how to respond to this im just gonna try to respond to liek actually anythning on my next watchthru of htis tiktok
why only ask men? what if they dont have a sister? i guess thats just a does not apply
i mean this is just one guy is that actually representative of a lot of people? i guess it shows that there isn’t heavy social (and potentially legal?) pressure against saying youd kill your sister for working.
is this what the islam does? i dont understand islam! im not gonna delete this line but i feel like i maybe should!
im moving on now
Do you have an opinion, like that her complaint about guys is a big deal or not a big deal?
What is the main thing you could learn about what the world is like from the video? You could try to understand something about women’s experiences online. Or about what a lot of men are like and what’s going on there.
As a guy, do you understand why guys do that? Are you like “weird I would never do that and it doesn’t even make sense to me”? If so you can say that reaction. There are many other reactions one might have, e.g. “But if you don’t do that, then how do you get girls?” or “Why are these guys so desperate for girls?” or “Why don’t they go meet women in person instead?”
vrbo fucking blocked her number but then fixed it for her after she got attention on social media. if you don’t have social media followers, good luck…
seems like a really common issue in everything.
in wow if your falsely banned you can try to post it on reddit and hope you get upvotes so that blizzard cares so you get unbanned
in this video from the youtube channel gamers nexus they talked about how they got scammed my new egg: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fnXsmXzphI
IIRC it went aproximately like:
GN: buys refurbished motherboard from NewEgg
NewEgg: delivers motherboard
GN: realizes they dont actually need the motherboard so they send it back. they never opened the box for the motherboard so it was actually impossible for them to have touched it
NewEgg: denies return because of damage to the product which GN couldnt possibly have done
GN: tries to deal with this using the normal methods that any consumer would have, fails, then complains on social media, and they seemingly refuse to take a refund from NewEgg now based on principle or something
I watched both tik toks now.
IDK if vrbo is potentially doing anything like misleading or fraudlent or false advertising.
im pretty sure that they dont have disclaimers all over the site emphasizing something like:
HEY! FYI! You can not rely on us to deliver what you asked for at all! You should be under the assumption that people could cancel you for any reason at any time and you will not be reimbursed for expenses you made relating to the fact that you expected you would have a vrbo!
If they mentioned that when you visited the website i think some people would probably be like ohhhhhh… im gonna find another way then. so it seems like they are getting money from people not knowing one of the most important policies that would effect peoples decision making. which does seem like maybe getting money from misleading people.
Because I didn’t feel like doing the project. But now I think I do. I hope that I succeed.
Does anyone know how to remove DRM from Kindle and Kobo books? Preferably a free way. I only have two books that I want to remove DRM from, and I don’t want to pay more that both the books already cost to do it.
I have used Caliber (DeDRM plugin) to do this before. But it seems that this no longer works with macOS Monterey.
A post was merged into an existing topic: Elliot Shares Links (2022)
I re-read this message of mine. I read the quote before reading the rest of it and thought: what the fuck does that quote mean? I then noticed past me also didn’t understand it. I think I should be able to understand what a sentence is saying, even if that sentence could be simpler.
I’m gonna try to simplify the quote in a way that i think would make it easier for me to read. Here is the quote:
An interesting thing about watching video game streaming where streamers verbalize their logic as to strategy is that you realize that the population-wide distribution of analytical ability is wider than you remember it being.
streamers verbalize their logic as to strategy
I think you can rewrite this part as: streamers say what their thinking as to strategy
you realize that the population-wide distribution of analytical ability is wider than you remember it being.
This part is the hardest for me to understand. But it’s basically saying something like: More people have the ability to analyze things than I remember.
Another thing about this part that i find confusing is: is the analytical ability he talks about a binary trait, or linear? Like normally when people talk about something being distributed among a population, it’s something like IQ, or wealth, or cancer (wait cancer is binary but I was automatically writing it out as an option anyway and was about to delete it but decided I should probably keep it). It feels less usual for it to be about something that you either have or do not have, but in this quote i think it’s about having or not having the ability to analyze things.
Anyway I think you could rewrite this part as: you realize more people can analyze things than you remember
So if we were to take the quote, and put in my substitutions, it would be:
An interesting thing about watching video game streaming where streamers say what their thinking as to strategy is that you realize more people can analyze things than you remember
No. I see what you would guess that, but it looks like you’re ignoring some of the words and guessing instead of knowing what it all means.
I do not know what to do after getting this message. My current plan is deal with it later, which I think will eventually turn into not respond to it. I guess I can list some possibilities:
- Do nothing
- Ask what it actually meant
- Try to figure out what it meant. I think I’d probably get stuck. I think a grammar tree would probably be great for this specific scenario. Elliot mentioned I think in the grammar article something like: that people have intuitions for how grammar works, but they can’t consciously figure it out, so if their intuitions are wrong, they can’t figure it out at all. Also you can ask for help if you get stuck trying to figure it out.
I can’t think of any other options that I imagine are good, OR something I’d actually do.
oh maybe:
- Read the rest of the twitter thread. Ok while writing this possibility I did it cuz it was only 4 tweets, and now I’m more confused
ok can’t think of anything else.
- Ask for hints (e.g. what words to focus on)
that seems like a hint. One word I am unsure about is “wider”. I did not understand why there was a wider in the quote.
Could I have hints? Like which words to focus on?
Yes “wider” is a key word. Also “distribution”.
Ok I think the next step is something like: look up the definitions for those words. And also check if they have different definitions in statistics or something that applies more here than the normal definition.
huh it’s been 10 days since the last time i wrote this. that is longer than i thought it was.
i think my plan with my misunderstanding of that twitter message is still deal with it later, but i’d really like to deal with the problem, like analyze it and figure out what it actually means, so that when i say i’ll do something later, that i might actually do it later instead of just never doing anything about it for the rest of my life.
i think it could be a thing i could learn where i actually can do stuff later
there is more stuff to consider which i am not considering right now, but that seem really important to this. such as saying you’ll do something later might mean you don’t want to do it at all, so doing it later is just as bad as doing it now to you. so there is no reason you would try to do it later instead of now.
Some people really hate being approached like this one the street, and so might not really listen to what is being said and are basically just being polite and hoping to get out of the conversation easily. Sometimes people probably donate to causes because they feel awkward and don’t know how to exit a conversation like this. But I do think many people actually think that supporting the destruction of Israel is good thing.
I’ve watched/listened this video a few times before (and commented on it on youtube.) My favourite line is “You were born with a birthright. That you are a demigod who can move heaven and earth.”
A thought I had about this idea was that humans might even have greater capacities than the capacities that humans throughout time have imagined their gods having. Because gods are the creations of people (imo), the capacities the gods are imagined having depends on things those people can imagine.
This sucks. It being suggested to you that you’ll be getting ‘exposure’ after they’ve already stolen your work is so shitty. It always struck me as like, poetic or ironic, that the term ‘exposure’ is also a term for a method of infanticide.
I like this video. I like she broadcasted the fact that she wanted to make a correction and that she changed her mind. I like how she’s telling her fans to not be mean or gang up on people and I think she means it.
I remember seeing someone on an Australian tv panel commenting on this around the time you posted this. They said something lines of ‘yeah you know it’s kind of understandable because kids probably shouldn’t be spending all their time gaming anyway’. I couldn’t believe it. It seems to me like most people do not even consider the question of what an appropriate use of government power is. It’s like they think if you can argue that you shouldn’t do thing A, then government forcing you not to do A is good.
