So it sounds pretty straightforward to these people that animals feel emotions. The litterature on nociceptors and behavioural avoidance of harm tends to confirm this. After all, we share a lot of evolutionary history with animals, so it would make sense that, by default, they share this ability with us.

@CorentinBiteau, would you agree with the following argument (which I’ve attempted to base off the quoted paragraph)?

1. Humans share a lot of evolutionary history with animals.
2. If two groups share a lot of evolutionary history, then it is a reasonable default expectation that the two groups will share the same abilities.
3. Humans have the ability to experience emotions.
4. Therefore, it is reasonable to expect that animals have the ability to experience emotions.
