I sort of don’t understand how bad/erratic/chaotic/arbitrary many of Musk’s Twitter policies have been. It’s not that I thought he was a prudent and wise businessman before. Nonetheless, I would have thought that even a second-handed aristocrat of pull would care about their reputation. Lots of people thought he was great, but I think that number has gone way down. OTOH, he’s done some solid signaling to right-wing people, so maybe that’s his focus now. Some people have suggested he’s interested in running for high office. Or maybe he had to work with people more before but he’s reached whatever the multibillionaire version of “fuck you money” is. So now we’re just seeing what he’s really like when he feels like he doesn’t have to answer to anybody.
