If you’re concerned about how the post is going to come out when you briefly type it at first, then what helped me thinking about that was knowing that that is my average quality post. Like that is what Im able to currently do without a lot of conscious effort. It helped thinking it’s my average cuz then I thought I could learn to improve my average.

I’d forgotten about this point, thanks. Now I recall Elliot saying some similar in a post recently, perhaps in one of your topics? I wasn’t able to find it. I’ll keep looking.

Okay no. I think the thing I remember was posted by Elliot in Eternity’s tutoring topic:

You need to relax and be OK doing an average job. Even a below average job. Some days I do stuff that is below average for me. I try to watch out for things that are bad and not use them, but below average stuff is often OK to use. There are high stakes contexts like building a space ship where you only want to use above average work in the final product, but for most projects, even important or valuable projects, you can include some average and below average work and it’s OK. For most projects, errors can be corrected a lot more easily than with space ships, so you don’t have to try super hard to avoid any errors.

I’m wondering if you had read that too. I don’t think posting in my tutoring thread is a high stakes context like building a space ship. In fact it’s a good place to make errors because Elliot is helping me find errors and helping me learn things.

So I think you’re right that I should be more okay with doing average posts. I should expect those to be more common. I’ve tried to keep that in mind while making this post and I’ll try keep it in mind for others.
