Help finding a browser

I was wondering what browser people on here use and if anyone could help recommend me a browser. I currently use Chrome for everything but I kind of want to get away from it cause of Google, limiting ad blockers, and RAM usage.

The issue I’m having is:

1.) I want to slowly start getting better at privacy and stuff. I don’t care too much about being super private, but I want to try and get better about the data I share and stuff. I have trouble understanding which browser would be best to use in this kind of situation. I keep finding mixed information and I don’t know how to make sense of it. Like Firefox seems good, but then I hear stuff like Google gives them a lot of money. That seems no good.

2.) I think Safari is good, but I have similar kind of concerns with the above cause it’s owned by Apple. Also its not on PC. While I primarily do a lot of stuff on my macbook nowadays, I still game from my PC and, many times, will just do work on there. One thing I like about Chrome is that it syncs. Most of the other programs I use also sync between my Windows PC and macbook, but Safari wouldn’t.

Tbh my only real concern here I guess is finding a suitable privateish browser. I think most browsers have sync functions and are available on multiple platforms (though I could be wrong about that).

I don’t think Firefox (or Safari) being paid for Google searches is a dealbreaker. Just switch your default search engine if you want to.

I use Brave as my default browser. My main reason is it blocks a lot of, for me, unwanted ads (YouTube ads included).

I’ve been using Brave too. I recently saw this:

I’ll try out Kagi. I like the idea of paying to get user-centric search instead of ad-centric search.

This?:

Look’s cool. I’ll look at it too, but I wonder what/if that had anything to do with the TikTok quoted that Elliot shared.

The TikTok just mentioned Brave privacy issues related to affiliate links and Tor relays. Nothing to do with search engines.

Because I’m thinking about switching away from Brave. Brave has its own search engine and the browser doesn’t show ads, so Kagi can replace Brave on those two aspects. I thought Kagi was a search engine and a browser but the Kagi company has a browser for macOS called Orion which I’m trying out. Orion claims to be faster because it’s native for macOS, it’s similar to safari, but it also has chrome extensions (not every extension works though) which I like.
