Offhand, my recollection is we were doing paragraph trees and then you wanted to move on to more advanced stuff like discussions and we tried that and I thought it went ok but then you haven’t been very responsive e.g. in the milton friedman and maximization topic and some other discussion topics.
About why philosophy: you’re here at the forum, you signed up for tutoring, what are your reasons for that? What do you already know about what’s good about philosophy?
I like understanding things, analyzing things, debate, logic. I like the world and society being more comprehensible.
Things = many topics: epistemology, rationality, morality, social dynamics, politics, culture, history, science, economics, psychology, health, systemic problems, etc. I like evaluating ideas myself and doing research instead of trying to guess which expert to believe. I like reading books and understanding what all the statements mean and spotting errors.
And I think my essays share lots of information about what I like and find interesting, etc.
FYI, and not trying to pressure you, just thought I should share: I do not guarantee availability to accept students in the future and also my rates have increased (I just didn’t change them for existing students yet).
It doesn’t have to be. Like one more month to see if things change or not isn’t that big of a decision or commitment. It’s up to you though.
