but even if they could just barely do it that’s not good enough you need to get to the point where you can more than do it so that there’s a spare capacity to deal with errors and random variants and setbacks and so on

Ahh so getting good at something is not about just to get good but to deal with set backs and things that could go wrong. That makes sense.

I think an example is like doing a routine called routine A. If the person is barely able to do routine A, then if they mess it up somehow it’s all just gonna be harder. It’s harder than just doing routine A. I think the person would have to get better at doing routine A so then they’re able to do deal with setbacks too.

Let’s say a person finally gets the energy to do their philosophy learning and they want to work on the routine that they like. What if they mess up after doing the routine? They’re not going to be at that peak of having their best energy. Fixing the mistake is going to take more energy than doing just the routine they like

if you can just barely do something in ideal conditions in general that just means you can’t do it because in real conditions there are going to be problems that come up like being tired or having a misunderstanding and a discussion or all kinds of things go wrong

it doesn’t sound good to barely do something. It’s like trying to aim for a balanced factory from TOC. I think balanced factories have fixed capacities to make and pass on a fixed number of product at a time. That’s like the person that’s barely able to do something. They only have a certain capacity to do their goal. Any less capacity and they won’t be able to do their goal.

Yes it’s related to TOC balanced factories :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

That’s cool. It’s hard to put in words but barely being able to do something reminds me of TOC balanced factories

cuz every work station in a balanced factory can barely keep up with the goal output of the factory

oh that’s gotta be the person who’s barely able to do something cuz idk their capacity to do their goal is barely enough to complete it
