Topic Summary:
I’m going to use this thread to practice discussion trees and idea trees from ET’s article(link here). I’ll look at my past discussions and try to tree them.
Goal:
I want more practice with discussion and how to format discussion.
CF Relevance:
I think it’s related to CF’s ideas on discussion. Like discussion is a way of error correcting. Also i think this post is related to CF’s ideas on practice like practice to error correct and automate.
From the Discussion Trees article:
Consider a sentence like “I think W because X, Y and Z.” This single sentence contains four ideas. A tree could represent it with four nodes.
Ok, so far it looks like making trees is a really big task to me. I have lots of questions I think.
For now, I wanna try to follow what the above quote says and make nodes out of a sentence in a discussion. I hope it’s ok if I just make nodes. I don’t know what is the root node or not:
It looks like this sentence has two ideas.
Nodes of each idea:
I see one idea:
I don’t know why it’s taking so long to come up with something to write for this thread. I feel so unsure about what to focus on. I thought I could just look at a sentence from a discussion and break it down into a tree.
I rather do this tip from the discussion tree article:
Tip: If you don’t already know how to break a specific idea down into parts, that means there’s room for improvement in your understanding. Try figuring it out, e.g. by brainstorming some parts it might have.
I don’t think read it right and thought it was a suggestion for an idea tree. It’s a suggestion to brainstorm the parts of an idea.
