Vocab Test Idea For Learning

Topic Summary:
Hi, I was thinking about getting better at writing in my self-help books topic. And I was thinking that I could get better at my vocabulary to describe things accurately.

I have an idea for a vocab test. Like you say a word you kind of get in a true statement. If the statement is right then you get some practice in how to use that word.

I tried the test and used the word “went”. I tried using it in a sentence 5 times for practice:

  • He went outside.
  • Shelby went to the park.
  • He went to walmart to take a photo.
  • Harmony went to the grocery store to pick up the meat.
  • They went to pick up pizza.

How does that sound?

Goal:
Find something lower level to practice
CF Relevance:
Skill building

I did vocab test/practice for the word see:

Definition to use:

BTW I used a random noun generator online to get another noun I can use in the sentence. That way it’s like a game. The extra noun is shown in parentheses.

Vocab test/practice:

(player)The player was able to see the individual pixels on his screen.

(sample)Johnny saw on the food stand a sample of food.

(grocery)Tommy saw the groceries on the floor.

(ear)She saw blood on his ear. (sorry for the graphic picture)

(bedroom)The lost cat was last seen in the bedroom.

I found using a random noun made the vocab practice harder so I tried forming sentences without it.

I practiced with the word made:
