Terrorism doesn’t work well for saving the world, but maybe works OK when you’re victims of violence, e.g. from a dictator. If your community isn’t being tortured, murdered, jailed, starved, etc., then it’s much harder for terrorism to make sense. I haven’t thought about this a lot; just wanted to raise it as a maybe.
Yeah. Whether it works or not, it is at the very least more understandable in those situations, IMO. The people doing terrorism feel like that is their only possible recourse, because their conditions are so bad and all the normal recourses have been denied them. Resistance movements during wars and occupations are sometimes pretty close to terrorism.
My guess is terrorism might work for achieving some very limited goal. I think the more limited the goal, the more likely terrorism could maybe help achieve it. Lots of highly limited goals can be achieved through means that could be very bad when looked at outside the limited goal. e.g. if your goal is “get 20 dollars” then things like robbery are on the table, because your goal is so limited it does not consider stuff like “without going to jail” etc.
This video touches on a lot of CF relevant topics but references two studies that found autistic women experience sexual violence at 2-3x the general population. It’s in the section starting 13:49. the rest of the video is worth watching too. I’m not sure if that includes all SA or not, but it’s horrifying either way.
I didn’t like the AI sounding parts of the script and checked his oldest video. It’s 2.5 years ago (he has no pre-AI videos) and also has some signs of AI and has a (at least superficially) similar level of polish to his newer videos. And he has 279 videos which is quite high for intellectual videos over that time period, so the pace is itself a sign of AI. Also he does clickbait, and I think trying to be fairly intellectual plus also doing clickbait correlates with AI (a lot of intellectuals don’t like clickbait, leaving fewer people to make clickbait intellectual stuff without AI to supply some of the intellect).
